Mutability (1952) Irving Fine (1914-62) Text by Irene Orgel

Jane Manning · 1994

Abstract Irving Fine’s music is typical of a whole generation of American composers writing in an accessible and tightly controlled idiom based strongly on European tradition. It is a wonderfully challenging cycle. Its powerful musical and verbal images make Mutability an outstanding vehicle for a well-schooled artist who is able to command a wide range of colours and dynamics and is adept at fast articulation.
