Causal inference using influence diagrams: the problem of partial compliance

Abstract In this article I aim to illustrate the fruitfulness, for purposes of causal modelling and inference, of an elaboration of graphical modelling based on influence diagrams. These can be used to model, in a clear and unambiguous way, probabilistic relationships that are regarded as invariant features across a range of circumstances.
