Exploring longitudinal data

Peter John Diggle, Patrick J. Heagerty, Kung‐Yee Liang, Scott L. Zeger · 2002

Abstract Longitudinal data analysis, like other statistical methods, has two components which operate side by side: exploratory and confirmatory analysis. Exploratory data analysis (EDA) is detective work. It comprises techniques to visualize patterns in data. Confirmatory analysis is judicial work, weighing evidence in data for, or against hypotheses. This chapter discusses methods for exploring longitudinal data.
