Tex, The Internet, And Multimedia

Alan Hoenig · 1998

Abstract How can anyone call TEX “free” when it may take many valuable hours to run a TEX problem to earth? While users of commercial versions of TEX can (and should!) avail themselves of the company helpline, people using free implementations have no such resource-or do they? It is the goal of this Chapter to show how the Internet and related topics might be useful in this regard. The Internet provides a mechanism for answering puzzling questions, just like an expensive vendor helpline, although the turnaround may be longer.
