Abstract This chapter gives a description of the general principles of statistical modelling using the GLIM package. A theoretical treatment is deferred to Chapter 11. Standard models that are subsumed in the GLM family and which can be routinely analysed with GLIM are treated first. Later sections describe many examples of non-standard models that can also be analysed with GLIM. The user may need to refer to the User Guide for more detail. Case studies of analyses for many of these models are given in Chapter 12.
