Parasite Numbers

Clifford A Pickover · 2001

Abstract After Dr. Googol showed his single 4-parasite number to several colleagues, Keith Ramsay of the University of British Columbia came up with an amazing formula to generate parasite numbers. It turns out that Dr. Googol’s brute-force computational searches would have taken far too long to find larger parasite numbers. Suppose we start with a multiplier digit d and wish to find some ^/-parasite. All we have to do is evaluate the formula dl(\Qd -1), and then use the unique segment of digits before the cluster repeats.
