Abstract Genstat is designed so that you can give simple commands to perform standard tasks. The defaults of options and parameters are set to correspond to what are believed to be the commonest needs - as judged by the authors of Genstat. But Genstat can be used in many different applications, and so it is inevitable that our choice of defaults will not correspond with the preferences of every individual user. Section 13.1 describes ways in which you can customize the Genstat command language, making it more convenient for the way in which you work. Section 13.2 describes how to customize the Menu System.
