Understanding Your Keyboard Instrument

Barbara English Maris · 2000

Abstract At your lessons and practice sessions, you may be playing an acoustic piano or an electric, digital keyboard. Acoustic pianos are those that are not plugged in (comparable to a traditional guitar, either classical or folk). Acoustie pianos do not depend on electricity to deliver or enhance the sound. Pianists—unlike singers, flutists, and harmonica players—usually do not take their own acoustic instrument with them when leaving home. Instead, they learn to adjust to the wide variety of instruments they encounter and do the best they can with whatever piano is available.
