Abstract The previous chapters typically began with equations whose properties and solutions were to be examined. These equations were devised to model a physical process or exhibit a particular behavior. The main lesson is that simple equations can have complicated solutions, including sensitive dependence on initial conditions, strange attractors with fractal structure, irregular basins of attraction, and intricate bifurcation sequences.
