Finite Element Methods for Parabolic Free Boundary Problems
Ricardo H. Nochetto · Advances in Numerical Analysis · 1991
Abstract In this chapter we discuss the numerical approximation of parabolic free boundary problems by finite element methods. We have chosen the classical solid-liquid phase transition as a model example but the underlying ideas apply to other free boundary problems as well. Such a transition is described by the so-called two-phase Stefan problem.
