One of the most crucial risks of Internet of Things (IoT) technology is security and privacy. The IoT is experiencing several issues, including inaccurate device upgrades, lack of efficient and effective protection measures, consumer obliviousness, and well-known active device tracking. Cyber-physical systems (CPSs) have received attention as one of the essential techniques for achieving IoT. The CPS represents a new revolution that aims to bring our digital and physical worlds closer together. Moreover, a CPS has several security flaws that could endanger human life. The CPS ecosystem, encompassing the multiple layers, is vulnerable to on-the-spot cyberattacks, necessitating further research into CPS protection. Thus, a comprehensive survey is required to analyze these security breaches, vulnerabilities, and attacks. That can improve the confidentiality and protection of IoT networks. This chapter presents recent advancements and applications of CPSs for IoT devices. It also investigated the historical background of IoT applications and protection metrics and recognized new security. Later, it covers confidentiality concerns, strategies utilized to protect the elements of IoT-based ecosystems and devices, conventional safety strategies, and the ideal privacy modeling techniques requisite and suitable for a wide range of IoT-powered devices.
