Abstract Many have been captivated by the potential of virtual reality (VR)—or inter active 3D visualization as it is sometimes called. The rationale seems compel ling. Moore’s law2 offers the prospect of unlimited computing power if only we can solve the interface problem. But that cannot happen if we continue to use primitive forms of human–computer interface.
