Introduction: From Control to Drift
Claudio U. Ciborra, Ole Hanseth · 2000
Abstract The reader will find in this book a set of alternative views on the role and dynamics of global information infrastructures deployed within the corporate context of large multinationals. By alternative views we mean that the reader is presented with both empirical material and scholarly interpretations that diverge, at times substantially, from the current wisdom contained in the management and informationsystems literature. Certainly, there has been a designed, intentional element in the way the book has been written; but there has also been an element of crafting interpretations and theoretical conclusions along the way, as the empirical evidence came pouring in from the field studies.
