This research paper critically reviews different requirement elicitation techniques in the software development process. The study examines how selection methods are linked to project characteristics, significantly impacting the requirement elicitation technique selection process. This study aims to enhance selection techniques in software development by assisting system analysts and developers, particularly those involved in the system development team during the requirement elicitation phase. The research seeks to expand knowledge on various selection techniques that meet stakeholders needs by facilitating the collection of accurate requirements. Given the complexities inherent in requirement elicitation in software development, a systematic literature review will be employed to critically investigate the appropriate requirement elicitation techniques for the software development process.
