An Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) for Smart ambulatory and healthcare applications is proposed in this paper. The proposed novel AMR design addresses the challenges faced in hospital care by providing a solution which comprises and mixes robotics, IoT and Artificial Intelligence. These AMRs are required to be able to manoeuvre through complex environments, avoid obstacles, and have safe and rational interactions with the patients. To address these challenges, the proposed design has focused on incorporating advanced sensing and perception systems, as well as deploying suitable algorithms that can cater real-time planning and control of the AMR. The AMR was created in-house from the scratch. The mechanical components of the design were 3D printed and the chassis of the AMR was made using plyboards. The components, sensors and other electronic components were then mounted onto the design to create the final structure and the codes were simultaneously developed. The performance of the AMR was at par with the simulations and path planning.
