Drone Network Security: Attack Types and Machine Learning Based Solutions

Drone technology is used in many different fields such as disaster management, military, health applications, and entertainment industry for different purposes such as communication, delivery and emergency services. The networking environment connecting drones to each other is vulnerable to many threats and attacks due to its open-access nature. In this paper, a new taxonomy is proposed for the classification of attacks threatening drone communication security, and different types of attacks are examined in the light of the proposed taxonomy. For each attack type, the existing machine learning-based solutions in the literature are discusses in terms of the used algorithms and their results. Also, some future work suggestions are provided to aid researchers studying in this field.
