Project Framework: Lifecycle and Gate System
G. Unnikrishnan, V. Pratapkumar · 2023
The project lifecycle consists of five stages, starting with identification, progressing through Feasibility and Statement of Requirements (SOR), project definition (Define), and Construction (Execute), and ending with commissioning and handover (Operate). The key players are the project proponent, project management, stakeholders inside and outside the owner company, and the project management and construction contractors. The project progresses from stage to stage after a stage gate review and go ahead given by an independent review committee. The review is based on the readiness of deliverables prepared at each stage and on published assessment criteria. The contract model primarily referred to in this book is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) type.
