Computational Thinking Education in K–12: A Review

Sina Rismanchian · 2023

Since Jeannette Wing’s popularization of the term “Computational Thinking” (CT), there has been a call for teaching students how computers think. The book, Computational Thinking Education in K–12: Artificial Intelligence Literacy and Physical Computing is a great work describing different ideas around teaching computational thinking and AI literacy. Like it or not, we are living in an era where computers have become an omnipresent presence in our lives. The authors try to bring up current problems in CT education; propose different praxis of teaching CT to students; and depict conceptual frameworks based on their conceptualization of CT and their beliefs about learning theories. In this book review, I am going to present an overall view of the book along with my evaluations of the strengths and probable shortcomings in the book.
