This chapter discusses the fundamental components and procedures for designing an adaptive secure ABE scheme. The required elements for developing adaptive secure ABE schemes that rely on a dual system of encryption are not straightforward, and it may be difficult to envision how they could be combined in such a way that they satisfy the formal requirements. To properly grasp how these schemes are constructed and why they are secure, two notions require additional explanation and description. These notions are referred to as predicate encoding schemes and dual system groups. Of course, these principles are not only important for comprehending the creation of the existing ABE scheme based on dual systems of encryption, they are also useful for developing new ABE schemes and performing information-theoretic security analysis on them. ABE schemes usually have lengthy and intricate security proofs that may or may not be reduced to well-known security assumptions. We can verify security in a straightforward manner under well-known assumptions, such as the symmetric external Diffie-Hellman (SXDH) assumption, by employing pair encoding.
