This chapter explores satellite-based technology and provides a comprehensive look at how low-orbit satellites can be employed as edge computers to improve the effectiveness of computing and communication concerning satellite-based technology. When using a communication system that is based on satellites, a signal cannot move faster than the speed of light. Therefore, the application that demands significant processing, the previously deployed satellite, which might be deep in space, the geosynchronous equatorial orbit (GEO) satellite, might not have the most recent version of the technology to function effectively. However, the most recent satellites placed in low orbit are equipped with necessary computation power and can function as edge computers for GEO satellites. In this chapter, we examine the usage of blockchain and attribute-based encryption technologies in outer space to improve the safety and effectiveness of communication-based satellites.
