To demonstrate our experience with the use of the metaverse in teaching uterine malformations in the medical field. Professors and residents from radiology and gynecology in two universities were invited to participate on a “virtual training”, which took place in real-time and without geographical obstacles, adding features ranging from the possibility to view an imaging sequence of 2D slices to shared navigation inside a 3D organ. One example of this scenario was a remote session in which the instructor discussed cases with participants joining in metaverse from different locations. They viewed the ultrasound exam result and manipulated it interactively to navigate through slices of the 3D data. They also inspected a 3D virtual model with a segmentation of the uterus cavity. After the training they were invited to answer a questionnaire regarding the benefits and potential issues of this educational modality. Eight professors and 20 residents participated on the study. This concept of Metaverse brought many new features to the medical field of communication. For all the participants, regardless of if residents or professors, evaluated the tool as a nice and efficient tool for education purpose, as the interaction and the virtual experience helped the best understanding of anatomical and pathological aspects as in a virtual basis the participants can be “inside the exam”. Metaverse is a technology under construction and has enormous potential as a digital tool to aid students in improving their collaboration and understanding of uterine malformations.
