Development of Network
Vijay Kumar Bansal · 2023
A network is a logical and chronological graphical representation of the execution sequence of certain project activities. The development of a network is the primary requirement of all the networking techniques used in project management. Arrows and nodes are the two basic elements of a network. This chapter covers the development of a network and its two types of representation: activity-on-arrow and activity-on-node. In activity-on-arrow representation, activities are represented by arrows. In activity-on-node representation, activities are represented by nodes. The chapter covers both types of representations and compares them. Finally, the chapter discusses how a network representation depicts logic or inter-dependencies among various activities more clearly than bar charts.
