Optimizing Concurrent Application Processing in IoT Edge Networks

Tuo Shi · 2023

Handling huge IoT data is challenging for traditional sensor-cloud IoT systems, particularly for latency-sensitive and resource-heavy applications. To address this, we employ the IoT edge network, a novel IoT architecture where edge servers, located closer to users and the physical world, boast greater computing resources. Despite this, processing IoT applications remains complex due to unclear methods for handling concurrent applications, inadequate analysis of the network resource-application latency relationship, and overlooked function conflict issues in edge servers. To resolve these issues, we propose the Energy and Latency Efficient Processing Plan for Concurrent IoT Applications Problem, aiming to develop an application processing plan considering concurrency, energy-latency relationship, and function conflicts.
