Over the past decade, iris recognition in research and its real-world applications through great consideration has been expanded. With the advancement in this field, the demand for iris recognition has also increased in various fields. It is in demand due to its high accuracy and helped in reducing fake dealings in electronic commences improved security systems at borders, among other benefits. What sets the iris apart from all other biometric modalities is that it remains the same throughout our life. The complete procedure of iris recognition is separated into stages: segmentation, normalization, feature extraction, and template matching. Researchers working in this field most commonly faced a challenge to deal with the computational time as the size of the database has increased too much. The main goal of this research work is to highlight the work done in the area of indexing techniques. By implementing various indexing techniques, we can find out better techniques for decreasing computational time (search time) and can achieve much higher accuracy.
