Chapter 3: Theory of limits of real numbers

Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics eBooks · 2023

This chapter is devoted to the classical theory of limits of real numbers. The presentation here is not much different from all the known books on the theory of number limits. It should only be noted that Euler's constants e and γ are obtained in a fairly clear and simple manner and with a fairly good approximation. In particular, it is shown that the harmonic sequence 1 + 1/2 + ⋅⋅⋅ + 1/n diverges as log n (the natural logarithm).
