A Survey of Recent Motion Sickness Research
June Brand · Journal of The Royal Naval Medical Service · 1970
Abstract The only drugs which appear to give consistently reliable protection against symptoms are hyoscine, diphenhydramine, cyclizine and promethazine. Field trials have indicated dose levels of hyoscine and cyclizine which can be expected to afford good protection with a minimum of side effects. Human and animal studies are described which have helped to clarify the mechanism and site of action of motion sickness drugs. Experiments carried out in life-rafts at sea indicate that nausea and vomiting can be controlled by a dose of 0.2 milligrams of hyoscine hydrobromide given intramuscularly.
