Data centers contain ultra-high bandwidth networks with tens of thousands of connections that cover thousands of square meters of land area. These facilities function as city block-sized computers with spatial arrangements that are constrained by the characteristics of the networking media, but they are designed in the manner of dormitories or office buildings. We demonstrate the development and application of a domain-specific language (DSL) within an established software framework for designing network-intensive facilities. This DSL can drive data center layout with networked devices and connectivity information to more effectively create, analyze, and iterate on the design of data centers. The use of an established framework enables rapid adaptation of the formal network specification into design and construction documents.
