Recently, the $\alpha - \kappa - {\mathcal{F}}$ and $\alpha - \eta - {\mathcal{F}}$composite fading models have been presented to characterize the shadowing, the nonlinear and the multipath effects simultaneously. However, the complex mathematical expressions of their probability density functions render it difficult to analyze the performance of some wireless communication systems. To this end, we present a mixture $\alpha - {\mathcal{F}}$ model to unify both of them. Then, this mixture model is applied to evaluate the physical-layer security performance of a wireless communication system. The unified exact and asymptotic expressions of the average secrecy capacity, the secrecy outage probability and the probability of intercept are derived, respectively, when the main channel and the eavesdropper’s channel undergo the identical and independent fading (such as $\alpha - \kappa - {\mathcal{F}}/\alpha - \kappa - {\mathcal{F}}$) and the mixed and independent fading (such as $\alpha - \kappa - {\mathcal{F}}/\alpha - \eta - {\mathcal{F}}$), respectively. Finally, we employ numerical and simulation results to assess the accuracy of the theoretical analysis.
