We propose a field monitoring system whereby drones search for and collect information on a crop field. In the proposed system, field monitoring starts with most of the drones searching for objects. Over time, the drones gradually change their role to collect information on the found objects. As there is no communication infrastructure in the field, communication is achieved through a delay-tolerant networking technology called store-carry-forward routing. In store-carry-forward routing, drones store received messages in a buffer. When drones encounter one another, if a drone has a stored message, it forwards it to the encountered drone. Through simulation experiments, we show that the proposed system searches for objects and collects information efficiently.
