Speed up H.266/VVC Intra Coding based on Statistical Heuristic and Deep Learning Methods

The newest video coding standard, H.266/VVC, improves compression performance by about $30\tilde 50\% $, as compared with the previous H.265/HEVC, with the cost of higher time complexity. We proposed to speed up the VVC intra-coding while maintaining good compression performances. Statistical heuristic and deep-learning methods are used in the coding tree structure to eliminate unnecessary rate-distortion optimization operations. Experiments showed that the proposed method can save 46.73% of execution time with 1.16% BDBR increment, as compared with the VVC test model, VTM 14.0.
