In April 2016, the author attended the FMX Animation Conference in Stuttgart, Germany, as a guest speaker. The conference organizers asked me to give a presentation about music and sound in The VOID . The VOID was a location-based virtual reality (VR) experience that had recently made a big splash when Harrison Ford and Stephen Spielberg raved about it in the press. After wrapping up his FMX conference talk about The VOID , a gentleman approached the author and introduced himself. His name was Vincent Percevault, and he ran a French entertainment conglomerate named G4F Productions. In spite of the solid foundation they built, language differences did become an issue once they got into the details of creative direction, interpretation, and feedback. They hit a major speedbump when the author started sending over the first work-in-progress drafts.
