Introduction to Language Integrated Query (LINQ)
Ying Bai · Auerbach Publications eBooks · 2023
The Language Integrated Query (LINQ) pattern is established on the basis of a group of methods called Standard Query Operators. The standard query operators differ in the timing of their execution, depending on whether they return a singleton value or a sequence of values. Both deferred Standard Query Operators and non-deferred operators are organized based on their purpose and we start this discussion based on the alphabet order. LINQ to DataSet makes it easier and faster to query over data cached in a DataSet object. LINQ to DataSet can also be used to query over data that has been consolidated from one or more data sources. LINQ can be used to query and transform strings and collections of strings. Many file system operations are essentially queries and are therefore well-suited to the LINQ approach. LINQ to DataSet enables us to build richer query capabilities into DataSet by using the same query functionality that is available for many other data sources.
