Using Language Differences to Detect Cyberattacks
Wayne Patterson · 2023
Previous studies have shown that detecting translations from one language to another can be an effective tool in determining the source of cyberattacks. This has been demonstrated in research by Blackstone and Patterson (2022) [ 3 ], Florea and Patterson (2021) [ 4 ], and Patterson, Murray and Fleming (2020) [ 5 ]. As a preliminary thought on the development of this technique, it is important to understand that different categories of cyber attackers have differing levels of attack skills. For example, if the cyberattack is being launched by a national government or an attack organization with vast resources, many avenues are open in terms of the use of resources to launch attacks on promising targets.
