IoT Intrusion Detection: A Machine Learning Assessment

Internet of Things (IoT) systems represent a technological revolution which unleashes the future of computing and communication systems that can be applied in numerous industries. IoT systems are easily targeted by attackers due to lack of efficient security mechanisms. Machine learning (ML), combined with data mining techniques, offer robust methods to efficiently implement security mechanisms for IoT systems. The current paper proposes an implementation of an intrusion detection mechanism based on machine learning algorithms, a comparison between some machine learning algorithms and a comparison between three hardware platforms that can implement the intrusion detection mechanism.
