Uncompressed 8K-video-transmission System for Remote Production Secured by Post-quantum Cryptography

We present an uncompressed 8K-video-transmission system for remote production secured by post-quantum cryptography (PQC). To deal with the security threat by quantum computers, secure optical transport based on PQC was applied. As a means of implementation, we used whitebox transponders with a disaggregated architecture. The evaluation experiment demonstrated that an almost 100-Gbps bandwidth was achieved and that the encryption latency was less than 1 µs. Additionally, it was capable of uncompressed 8K-video transmission in 1.4 ms over an 80-km optical fiber. Consequently, the excellent potential to support secured remote production was demonstrated.
