Cleide Inês Wittke, Mayara Espíndola Lemos · Americanae (AECID Library) · 2018

It is known that every professional need to be constantly updating themselves, even after graduation. Proof readers, professionals whose activity is the focus of this research, need to improve and update their knowhow and knowledge in this practice, especially regarding the resources offered by computers and internet, since they tend to facilitate and make their job easier, regardless the text genre in focus (MARCHUSCHI, 2010; XAVIER, 2005). Within that perspective, the aim of the present article is to show how technology can contribute to the proof reader’s tasks. In order to do so, we investigated and elaborated a theoretical review about the resources that technology, mainly the internet, offer to proof reading practice, based on Lévy (1990), Chartier (2002, 2016), Marcuschi Xavier (2004), Serra (2007) and Santos (2009). We argue that such resources, when used with mastery, are an asset to proof readers.
