Necessity of Time Synchronization for IoT-Based Applications

Advanced data and communication innovations and installed frameworks have offered to ascend to another disruptive innovation: the Internet of Things (IoT). In this study, we report the need of time synchronization and communication in IoT devices. We begin by studying the basic concept of IoT, its related technologies, protocols, and standards. The study also observes the basic applications of IoT and the related issues which required precise time synchronization and the high connectivity technologies. Finally, the major issues that occur due to improper time synchronization of clocks embedded in IoT devices are addressed in this chapter. This chapter also demonstrates that most of the IoT-based devices are still lacking in proper synchronization with time.
