Background Information on the Founders of the EMC Society Since the Society's Founding in 1957
Dan Hoolihan · IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Magazine · 2023
In the beginning, the Founders were interested in Radio Frequency Interference or RFl. The dominant United States electrical engineering association in the mid-1950s was the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE). The American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AlEE) had fewer members and was primarily interested in electrical power generation and transmission while the IRE members had a wider range of electrical engineering interests.
