Optimization of the SELECT Statement Containing Window Functions

The speed of processing a query, which contains analytical functions is crucial, if we work with a huge amount of data in database. In this article we focused on optimizing the execution of the SELECT statement, which uses analytical functions to obtain additional data from the database. The optimization consists of comparing five different methods of the query creation together with the creation of the most suitable indexes, which can improve the execution plan of the given query. The first method is the classic select statement containing analytical functions directly, followed by three different methods of user-defined functions that include analytical functions, and the last compared method is the use of materialized view.
