Current-mode circuits have gained considerable attention in analog circuit design. The performance of circuits implemented using the current-mode technique is superior to that of circuits designed using the voltage-mode technique. The current-mode technique offers large bandwidth, high slew rate and linearity, low power consumption, simple circuitry, and so forth. The current-mode circuits are beneficial for biomedical applications due to their low power consumption. Many applications of current-mode circuits have been reported in the literature. Filters are one of the most important building blocks in the analog systems. Many current-mode active elements have been developed over time to design high performance current-mode filter. This chapter presents a brief overview of filters based on the current-mode approach.
