Pattern Search Algorithm

The pattern search algorithm is arguably one of the earliest, if not the first, meta-heuristic optimization algorithms. The ideas and novelties used in this algorithm would help shape the next generation of optimization algorithms. In this chapter, we will dig deep and explore the mechanisms used in this algorithm. We would then see how one can implement the pattern search algorithm in the Python programming language. Finally, we will explore the potential merits and drawbacks of this algorithm.
