Amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic, the countries, governments, industries, and individuals adapted the paradigm shift towards societal and personal healthcare. If we look at the individuals, the major expenditure is targeted towards basic needs, healthcare, and personal well-being. During this time, the majority of the business firms were disrupted and faced huge business losses, specifically the travel, tourism, hotel, hospitality, and aviation industries due to inbound/outbound travel restrictions and travelers’ priority shifts. But the show must go on, and these industries realised these constraints to be an opportunity for their business growth post-pandemic. Due to the rise in patient-centric healthcare, the industries embraced medical tourism as a viable solution. The industries are making enormous investments in cutting-edge technologies for delivering sustainable, secure, robust, and transparent healthcare solutions for medical travelers. Edge-AI and blockchain provide solutions to privacy-critical and data-sensitive medical data. The objective of this chapter is to highlight the role of edge-AI and blockchain in the medical tourism sector. This chapter includes the concepts of medical tourism, edge-AI, blockchain technology, the role of edge-AI and blockchain on medical tourism, and the competitive advantage of medical tourism. This chapter concludes with the different edge-AI and blockchain techniques to address patient information for the purpose of cross-border data sharing.
