Model Background and Implementation

Gary L. Richardson, Brad M. Jackson · Auerbach Publications eBooks · 2023

This chapter describes a lookback historic view of the integrated model development. It summarizes the thought process and revelations that led the authors through the major stages leading to the final model description. During the initial review period, the goal was only to discuss what was observed in current projects. That expanded into a wandering search through history to uncover what might be considered solutions to the success-limiting factors. A major part of the initial analysis was spent reviewing traditional model advantages and gaps. This led to three more increasingly specific stages of the project decision process. The next major step was to identify a collection of success-oriented processes that needed to be included. From that, a decision block architecture structure was outlined and the key processes were embedded in the proper blocks. The remaining stages of the research dealt with testing the structure against real-world case scenarios and adjusting the processes accordingly. The first 12 chapters of the text documented this year-long collection of ideas and processes and the remaining sections described the consolidation of these into the final integrated production mode which is described in Chapters 14 and 15.
