On AES S-boxes with Variable Modulus and Translation Polynomials

Chaman Prakash Arya, Ram Ratan, Neelam Verma · Apple Academic Press eBooks · 2023

Translation polynomials used in the construction of advanced encryption standard (AES) S-box are computed for each modulus polynomial and carry out the analysis based on the nonprimitive and primitive modulus polynomials. These translation polynomials are judiciously selected so that there are no fixed points and conjugate fixed points in the S-boxes constructed. Varying a translation polynomial in the algebraic construction of standard AES S-box leads to different S-boxes with same cryptographic properties as of original AES S-box. The translation polynomials are studied by varying modulus polynomials for various bias parameters of the S-boxes constructed. The reported new results indicate that the AES can be implemented to achieve dynamic encryption for real applications of information security.
