Windy Dryden · 2023
This chapter focuses on the indications and contra-indications for Single-Session Therapy (SST) with a discussion of these as they pertain to the service in which SST is located. The good indicators that SST will flourish as a method of service delivery include: Service-wide support; Proper training; Ongoing supportive supervision; Proper administrative support; SST integrated in service provision; Ongoing research and evaluation; Continuing professional development and so on. The chapter lists a few conditions that exist and cannot be modified, and are service contra-indications for SST. The conditions include SST is imposed; Insufficient training; Insufficient supervision; SST not integrated into the agency; No administrative support; Not accessible to the public; No links with other agencies where SST is practised and so on.
