This paper describes a Boundary Scan Test (BST, IEEE Std. 1149.1) test station designed and implemented with a requirement of full parallel evaluation for 8 Devices Under Test (DUTs). The suggested guidelines can function as reference for the implementation of an industrial BST station. This discussion is relevant due to the increasing prevalence of test systems utilizing this technology. By using XJTAG tools integrated with NI LabVIEW/TestStand, we emphasize the benefits of such a solution, deployed for production purposes, with respect to maximizing test coverage, reducing engineering implementation effort and costs. The added value of this work consists of several applicative research key elements. First, some considerations for building the BST test adapter (or test fixture) are discussed in relation to BST test requirements. Next, the software interface implementation flow, from a structural perspective, is explained. Finally, test procedures are presented with the observation that, besides the well-established BST procedures, the proposed implementation also serves as a DUT programming station. Experimental results, obtained after deployment for production purposes, confirm the benefits and reliability of such a solution.
