Simulating Error Due to Inhomogeneity of Type K Thermocouples

The base metal thermocouples are the most popular temperature sensors. However, their inhomogeneity is main source of their error. The modelling of error due to inhomogeneity error for the conventional thermocouple and the thermocouple with a controlled temperature field (TCTF) is carried out in this paper. It was found that the TCTF reduces the contribution of inhomogeneity to the measurement error in 60 times to less than 0.2°C.
