Clause linkage theory

The first part of this chapter contains a short review of relevant previous literature on clause linkage and the approaches to the study of specific types of complex sentences, namely complement clauses, adverbial clauses, relative clauses, and even multi-verb constructions. This review serves as a link to the second part of this section, which is concerned with the RRG approach to the analysis of complex sentences, enabling the reader to compare all the different approaches.
