Joint Channel Estimation for NR PUSCH

The higher operating frequency bands of NR raises the problem of coverage, especially for the PUSCH. To solve the problem, 3GPP approved the SI and WI on NR coverage enhancement and introduced the JCE for PUSCH to alleviate the problem. However, considering the implements, the fluctuation on phase continuity and power consistency will bring the performance degradation for JCE. In this paper, the factors impacting the performance of JCE are discussed in detail, and the simulations are further performed to find the tolerance for phase continuity and power consistency of JCE. The analysis along with the simulations results identifies the benefits of JCE and provides the reference for defining the condition adopting JCE.
