Preparation of Patient Mammogram Images for Segmentation

Early identification of breast cancer improves patient survival rates and lowers mortality and morbidity index worldwide. Several imaging techniques have been used to detect breast cancer however, mammogram images have proven to be used to detect its earliest stages. Image segmentation is crucial to image analysis as it helps to classify breast tissue into different segments making each segment more accessible for further analysis. This work aims to prepare the Chinese Mammography Database mammogram images for image segmentation.
